Nguyễn Bặc
Nguyễn Bặc (chữ Hán: 阮匐; 924 – 15 October 979 lunar calendar) was a Vietnamese general and administrator. He helped future emperor Đinh Bộ Lĩnh put an end to the troubles of the Anarchy of the Twelve Warlords and to establish the short-lived Đinh Dynasty.〔Hữu Ngọc ''Wandering through Vietnamese culture'' 2004- Page 393 "Nguyễn Bặc ...a valorous warrior and statesman who helped Đinh Bộ Lĩnh put an end to the period of anarchy of the Twelve Warlords before the Đinh Dynasty."〕 After Đinh Bộ Lĩnh and his chosen successor Đinh Liễn were murdered by a palace official, Đỗ Thích, Nguyễn Bặc captured the murderer and had him executed. He then tried unsuccessfully to organize resistance to Lê Hoàn.〔Kenneth R. Hall, John K. Whitmore Explorations in early Southeast Asian history 1976 Page 164 "It was just six months after this that both Bộ Lĩnh and Liễn were killed by Đỗ Thích whose identity and motives remain obscure. 72 Five ... In the early months of 980, Nguyễn Bặc and two other men attempted to organize resistance to Hoàn."〕
